Toronto Nuked: A “hypothetical” situation
If Toronto gets nuked
Was just playing around and found this simulation. (You need to download Google Maps 3 D).
If U.S.A and Canada went to war, and they dropped their standard nuke on Toronto, this is the result.
Initially some speculated probably this came down to a regional Canadian rivalry between Ubisoft’s Toronto and Montreal offices. After all, everyone probably has thought of metaphorically nuking Toronto at some point in their life.
According to the game’s creative director, Dean Evans, this wasn’t the case at all and the blowing up of Toronto just fit perfectly into the game’s story line.
“Put your mind in the mind of a Russian military leader and you are looking to invade the United States. You would go through the back door, which is Canada. So in the universe and story that we’ve got, Russia invades Canada to get to the United States. The first assault that goes on is actually in Alaska,” said Evans during a Q&A session with Canadian journalists.
Evans then went on to specifically explain why, of all the Canadian cities his team could have possibly chosen, he picked Toronto to destroy.
“The reason that Toronto is the place that gets nuked is that it’s the biggest city in Canada. It just makes sense. It’s where the largest population of the Canadian cyborg army is. Maybe one day, Toronto will get its revenge,” said Evans.
Originally from Britain, Evan’s isn’t even a fan of the Montreal Canadiens, a fact that probably doesn’t go over very well with the rest of Ubisoft Montreal.
“By the way, I’m a Blue Jays fan and a Maple Leafs fan. F–k the Canadiens.”
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a stand alone expansion to Ubisoft Montreal’s award winning Far Cry 3. It was put together during an intense six month development cycle and features a neon post apocalyptic world set in the dystopian future of 2007. It sounds ridiculous right? But it’s also awesome.
